Before you begin
Install the free Duo Mobile app before you begin enrolling in 2-Step Login.
- For Android users who do not have the Play Store available in their area, you can download the app here: http://dl.duosecurity.com/DuoMobile-latest.apk
- The Welcome Screen will appear the first time you log into a protected web application after being newly activated.
If you are already enrolled and need to set up a new device please follow the instructions at 2-Step Login Duo Device Portal
Click the Start setup button to begin enrolling your device.
- Choose Your Authentication Device Type
Select the type of device you'd like to enroll and click the Continue button.
We recommend using a smartphone for the best experience, but you can also enroll a landline telephone, a security key, or iOS/Android tablets.
Enter Your Phone Number
Select your country from the drop-down list and enter your phone number. Use the number of your smartphone, another cell phone, or landline that you will usually have available when logging in.
Check the box to confirm your number, and click the Continue button.
If you are enrolling a tablet, you are not prompted to enter a phone number.
- Choose Platform
Choose your device's operating system from the list and click the Continue button.

Duo Mobile is a free app that runs on your smartphone and helps you authenticate quickly and easily. Follow the instructions on the screen to install Duo Mobile. After installing our app return to the enrollment window and click I have Duo Mobile installed.
You can still complete 2-Step Login using a phone call or text message, but for the best experience, we recommend that you use Duo Mobile.
Activate Duo Mobile
Activating the app links it to your account so you can use it for authentication. Activate Duo Mobile by scanning the barcode with a barcode scanner built into the Duo Mobile app on your smartphone.
Click the Continue button after you scan the barcode successfully.

Enter an email address you can access from the device on which you are setting up Duo Mobile to receive the alternative activation link and click Send email.
Check your email account using the device with Duo Mobile installed and click the link in the message from Duo Security.
On the page that opens, select Activate Duo Mobile. if you are not automatically prompted to switch to Duo Mobile.
If that does not work, you can copy/paste the displayed code into the Duo Mobile app.
Duo Mobile should now have your account added. Click Continue on the setup page to complete the process.
- Configure Device Options (optional)
You can use Device Options to give your phone a more descriptive name, or you can click Add another device to add a second phone or another authenticator.
If this is the device you'll use most often with Duo then you may want to enable automatic push requests by changing the When I log in: option and changing the setting to "Automatically send this device a Duo Push" or "Automatically call this device" and click Save or Finish Enrollment.
- Congratulations, your mobile device is ready to use Duo!
Click Continue to login to proceed to the Duo Prompt.
