Options for Saving your Work on Your Local Device

See the steps above with recommendation to use your S-Drive network storage.

  • macOS:  /Users/YourUserName/
    1. With the VMWare Horizon client open (not yet Excel), go to the VMWare Horizon menu in the top left of your screen
    2. Click Preferences
    3. Click the plus (+) button, browse to and select the folder or drive to share, and click Add

  • iPadOS/iOS: Files app > On My iPad/iPhone > Horizon

  • Android: Files app > open the menu at top left > Select the device (just below Recent, Downloads, and other common folders)

  • ChromeOS:
Currently, you cannot save work in the virtual app directly to your Chromebook.  It's recommended that you follow the steps above to save to your S-Drive.
Alternatively, you can take these steps when working on a Chromebook:

    Use VMware temporary storage
    1. Save to the Desktop folder within the virtual app (File > Save As)
    2. When done working, quit the app on your Chromebook
    3. Connect from another device, like a smartphone or tablet
    4. Open the same app and re-save the file to the Z drive to put it on this device's storage
    5. Use the web browser on this device to upload the file to submit your assignment

    Email the file to yourself
    1. Save to the Desktop folder within the virtual app (File > Save As)
    2. Open the Edge browser provided through the VMware client and log in to your email account.
    3. Email to yourself the file saved in the temporary storage on the VMware client

If you do save to only your computer, backing up your documents from your computer is always prudent in case something happens to your computer.
