Background

Support for Windows 10 1909 ends on May 10, 2022. On Monday, June 20, 2022, ITS will begin updating any machines not running Windows 10 version 21H2. This update will take place remotely and is critical to reduce security risks and assure compliance with University policy. Should you wish to update to Windows 10 21H2 between now and June 20, you may opt to do so using one of the three methods indicated below.

Please note that if you do not update before June 20, there is no way to determine when the update will be installed on your computer. This may interrupt your work for hours so it is highly recommended that you update before June 20.

Spreadsheets of devices that do not have Windows 10 21H2 can be found below:

Simply locate your supported area and open or download.

The above lists identify all machines not running Windows 10 21H2 as of 04/26/2022.

Technology Coordinators: Find your area spreadsheet from the above link. Your customers will be listed by their NetID and any machine(s) needing the update.

ITS-Supported Customers: Find your division using the tabs at the bottom of the spreadsheet. Then look for your NetID, which will be listed next to any machine(s) you are responsible for updating. For assistance identifying your device(s), please contact the ITS Service Desk at askIT@albany.edu or (518) 442-3700.

Be sure to backup your data prior to running the Self-Update.

As the update takes up to 3 hours, ITS recommends initiating the process at the end of the business day. Leaving a machine on lets the system migrate overnight, minimizing customer downtime
