Requirements

The Video Conferencing Services are only available Monday through Thursday, 8am to 8pm EST and on Friday, 8am to 5pm EST.
This service is available for University at Albany Faculty/Staff.

Uptown Campus

  1. Reserve room HU-290 in the Humanities building by calling the College of Arts and Sciences' Dean's Office at 442-4651.
  2. After the room is reserved, make a request to schedule the video conference through ITS. Use this Video Conference Request Form: (http://www.albany.edu/its/video_conference_request.htm ).
            If you have any questions, please call our office at 442-3647
  3. After your room has been reserved and we've received your Video Conference Request, a Faculty Technology Resources representative will get in contact with you and arrange the set-up.

Downtown Campus

The Downtown Campus has two rooms that are equipped to participate in video conferences:

  • Husted 106A (Amphitheatre)
  • Husted 110 (Rudolf Room)
  1. You must first reserve the room you would like to use for your Video Conference.  You can do this by going to the UAlbany Downtown Campus Conference/Meeting Room Reservations web page, and then filling out the Conference/Meeting Room Reservation Form with your request.
  2. Once you have the room reserved, you then need to fill out the Video Conference Request form.
  3. After your room has been reserved and we've received your Video Conference Request, a Faculty Technology Resources representative will get in contact with you and arrange the set-up.

Arrangements

In order to have a successful Video Conference, the remote site you want to Video Conference with needs to be using an IP-based Video Conferencing codec.  Our equipment is not compatible and will not work with a Skype or similar type web conferencing session.

Faculty Technology Resources must have at least a two (2) business day notice prior to a video conference.

Service 

A Faculty Technology Resources representative will:
    a. interact with technical staff at the other site to schedule a test for connecting the two sites.
    b. train the meeting participants in use of the equipment.
    c. set up the video conference.

Fees

The Video conference setup and support fee is $50---billable to a UAlbany account number only.

There is no charge for video conferences related to University-scheduled classes.
