The UAlbany Mail Upgrade began late on Wednesday, 10/2, and completed late on Friday, 10/4.

What's New?

  • Mailbox size increased from 25GB to 50GB for everyone.
  • There's a new version of Outlook Web App (OWA) when accessing your mail through a web browser.
  • There is broader support for mobile devices, including phones, tablets, etc.

What Do I Need To Do?

Outlook Customers

There is nothing different that you need to do. Outlook will look and function as usual since the version was not changed as part of this upgrade.

A few Outlook customers have reported that Outlook prompts for their password whenever they launch Outlook for the first time each day.  If you are experiencing this issue, enter your password and be sure the box is selected to have it remember your password.  If this issue persists, it may be necessary for your Technology Coordinator to assist in recreating your Outlook profile.

Outlook Web App (OWA) Customers

There is nothing different that you need to do.

Some Firefox customers have reported that Firefox may crash while using OWA to access their mailbox.  We are currently investigating that issue.  If you are experiencing this issue, you may choose to use a different web browser for email such as Internet Explorer (IE) or Chrome while we research the issue.

Mobile Device Customers

There is nothing different that you need to do.

IMAP and POP App Customers

There is nothing different that you need to do right away.  However, your current IMAP, POP, and SMTP server settings will need to be updated at some point since they are no longer officially supported in the new version of UAlbany Mail.  Please visit the Getting Connected page and follow the appropriate link for your application.
