Online Learning Opportunities

Self-paced Learning

All UAlbany faculty are enrolled in the UAlbany Faculty Blackboard Learning Community course in the Blackboard 9.1 system .  This course serves as both a repository of Blackboard "lessons" and a space where UAlbany faculty can connect with one another to communicate about Blackboard best practices, tips, and tricks.

Faculty Technology Resources will also utilize the broadcast communication features of the course to communicate important updates or announcements about the Blackboard service.  Blackboard lessons include:

  • Getting Started with Blackboard Learn
  • Building Courses
  • Enhancing Communication
  • Assessing Students
  • Designing Engaging Content
  • Monitoring Student Performance
  • Building Online Communities

Additionally, all faculty have been provided with the following for purposes of testing and development of Blackboard features:

  • Your personal development course is a blank course in which you are enrolled as instructor where you can "twirl the dials" of Blackboard's features and develop a comfort level
  • Your personal practice course includes sample students and their submissions, discussions, and grades so that you may observe how student activities are recorded.  You have instructor permission in this course.

NEW - Online Webinars

Faculty Technology Resources is pleased to offer a new and convenient way to attend Blackboard workshops - the webinar.

Now you can attend an online workshop or presentation from your office, home, or anywhere you have a compatible computer and Internet access.

 More about system requirements...

The webinar format allows you to view workshop materials, slides, and webpages on your computer screen, listen to the presenters through your computer speakers/headset or by telephone, and type questions and interact with other attendees through the text chat window.
