To set a password and obtain your NetID, you must complete the Password Set/Reset process

  1. Go to the MyUAlbany Welcome page and select the UAlbany Password Set/Reset link located under Quick Links.
  2. For the Password Set, enter your SSN or AlbanyID*, Date of Birth and PIN; then click Next
  3. Select and answer a security question. Then create and answer a second security question. Click Next
  4. Create a password that complies with the Complex Password Rules.
  5. A confirmation message will display your NetID and confirm your password is set for the system(s) you can access using your NetID and password.
If the confirmation screen does not state the UAlbany Mail password was set/reset, or it contains an error message, you may only have access to MyUAlbany. New students may need to wait until the next business day to reset password for UAlbany Mail. Former students and Alumni may no longer have a University email account. Please contact the ITS Help Desk for further assistance.
*Students who do not have an SSN (Social Security Number) on record with the University must enter their AlbanyID.  If you do not know your AlbanyID, you may find it listed on correspondence you received from the University during the admissions and acceptance process.  Otherwise, you must visit the Office of the Registrar located in Campus Center B52 and present photo identification to obtain your AlbanyID. Employees obtain their AlbanyID from their Human Resources department.
