Welcome to the University at Albany!

Information Technology Services (ITS) provides technology resources you’ll need for the duration of your studies. You can start using campus IT services right away.

Get Help

Log In

Activate your UAlbany account.  You first need to Set your Password and get your NetID. You will then be able to log in to most IT services by going to MyUAlbany

The MyUAlbany portal has links to many services, University news, and allows you access to your academic, financial, and other important information.

Never share password information with anyone; it keeps your data and files safe. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your computer.

E-mail

UAlbany Mail is part of Microsoft’s Office 365 for Education. You can see your University e-mail address in MyUAlbany if you don't know it yet.

To connect to UAlbany Mail on a smartphone or tablet, take these steps for the built-in email app:

  1. In Settings, choose to add an account
  2. Choose the type, Exchange or Corporate
  3. Enter your UAlbany e-mail address
  4. Enter your NetID and password, then complete your 2-Step Login prompt
  5. The account should set up and may present further options for customization. New messages will be automatically delivered to the device.

Microsoft Office

Microsoft Office 365 is available for free via download through UAlbany Mail as long as you are a student at UAlbany. It allows installing a full version of Microsoft Office on your computers and mobile devices. For details and instructions, go to Microsoft 365 Apps Subscription License.

File Storage

Office 365 includes OneDrive for Business, with 1TB of online storage and Office Web Apps to edit and collaborate on documents. For details and instructions, go to OneDrive for Business.

Access to your S Drive, your personal network file space with 100MB of storage, is available when you use ITS public use computers or a personal computer. For instructions to access, go to File Storage - S: Drive.

Blackboard

Blackboard is UAlbany's Learning Management System (LMS). Blackboard has many features which allow faculty to upload files and organize course content, communicate with students via announcements or email, and assign and grade assignments easily through the browser.

Summer Placement Exams

For first-year students, placement exams will be administered through Blackboard on June 20 and 27.  Test your access to Blackboard as soon as you have your NetID and Password.  Further instruction will be provided by the EOP office.

Where to go:

  1. Log in to Blackboard directly – https://blackboard.albany.edu
  2. Log in to Blackboard through MyUAlbany - http://www.albany.edu/main/myualbany-student.shtml
  3. You will be instructed to login to the Zoom meeting for the date of your exam. 
  4. Be sure to follow steps below to activate your UAlbany Zoom account.

Zoom

Zoom is a cloud solution that offers video, audio, and wireless screen-sharing experience. The software allows users access to audio conferencing, video conferencing, online meetings, group messaging and web conferencing service in the cloud. Using and participating in a Zoom meeting is easy. Get connected on your workstation, your mobile devices, or telephone.

  2. Access Zoom meetings –
    1. Log in to your Blackboard course
    2. Your professor may provide a link
